It works.
I used this on an LS swapped 66 Chevelle with a 4L60E. It took some creative bending of the rod to make it work, which I knew before I purchased it. It works perfectly. I'm even able to grab 1st gear, which I didn't think would be possible since this was a powerglide car. The hardware is a bit lacking. Not for the novice DIYer
Of course they do say in the listing to have a pro shop install it. The kit needed sleeves/spacers to get the heim joint away from the supplied shift lever for smooth operation. The rod was easy to put a slight bend that I needed and is holding up well. I also don't see it getting in the way of my exhaust. I don't see the purpose of the long threaded nut, it is a larger thread than the rod so it slides along the rod. This is a decent kit. Im not a pro but I'm not a novice either. I don't really care for the stock Chevrolet column shift linkage and I usually talk my customers into replacing it with a cable or a rod. This kit went on my own project 1978 Chevrolet K20 with 350/350 setup to get an idea of how it would work. I prefer cable kits but they are pricey so this is a much cheaper ... Great shift linkage for the price
The shifter was an excellent choice for my custom made trike. 305 chev engine with a 700R4 transmission. It fit perfectly on the transmission with no wiggle or slop. The only thing Im not sure of is the gear that fits on the shifter. The gear is made of aluminum. It looks to be of good quality but once I lock it in and use it I'll know if it will hold up or not.
