Decided to retire my old Samsung Note 3 and get onto the latest trend bandwagon. The S8 was definitely the best value proposition in the market. The phone feels smooth and with non-sharp edges topped off with a surface texture feel that is hard to describe, but is fantastic to the touch - It invites you to hold it all day! The black color is also seek and appealing. I was most surprised at the bloatware because they were actually apps which are useful (like Microsoft Word and the MS Office Suite) At stock, the OS only occupies ~13GB, so tonnes of room for more with 64GB capacity. Screen size is perfect and the DPI is astounding. For the more tech savy users, the screen can also be set to 720p, 1080p, or 1440p on the fly via settings! The front and rear camera is crystal clear, same with the sound, haptic feedback is responsive, and the overall experience was a highly positive one. I deeply recommend this upgrade if you are still using a smartphone from pre-2013/2014.Read full review

I have a love-hate relationship with this phone, after coming to it from a Nokia 2.3 (which has quirks of its own.) Pros: - Always On Display is brilliant! Now I can just touch the screen to see the time instead of fumbling for the side button. - Slimmer than my old phone (but just as long, a little too long for my pocket, unlike my S5 Mini) - Nifty galaxy starfield effect moves as the phone moves. Cons: - Terrible reception, it's usually never higher than 2/5 bars and apprently they all suffer from this. Until the S8, in 20 years, I had never had a phone call drop out. Ever. I've only made one call since I've had the S8, it dropped out 3 times in 10 minutes. My other phones almost always showed 5/5 bars. - Quiet. Even cranked up to max volume, I've still missed a call and an alarm when I was away from the phone. I always heard my S5 and the Nokia in the same situation. - Short battery life. I expected this, but not to such a high degree. I don't think it would make it through two whole days for the average user. But to balance it out, it does recharge quickly. Overall: - The bad reception is the deal breaker, everything else is tolerable or has a workaround, but if the phone fails at its primary function - being a voice phone - then I can't trust it to work when I need it. Luckily for me my major use for my phone is as a calendar, SMS device and an alarm clock, but the average user might find the S8 problematic. ** Please note that the seller was excellent and my comments relate purely to the phone itself.Read full review
