I've had these brand knives for many years. Their durability is amazing. The carbon steel blades hold an edge like crazy. I even use the top back edge of the blade as a striker for fire starting. Having Mora brand knives, to me, is a no brainer. I honestly think that these are the most under valued knives on the market. Everyone that has seen my Mora knives, or that I've given one to, has had nothing but compliments to say about them. I have to say that the way in which these knives fit into these great sheaths, and stay put, is a tribute to the quality and workmanship that is in each knife.

Heavy duty work horse! I got the HD just in case I need to Baton or chop with it. The handle has a black rubber like material and is very grippy. Carbon steel tends to rust so rap the blade in a paper towel soaked in vinegar and let sit for 5 minutes. Remove and rinse. The blade will be grey(which happens over time anyway)but will not rust anymore. I have several of these for my family members. Overall this knife is a great value and will be with you for years.

This is my go to knife for just about everything. Wicked sharp and easy to strop it back to it's glory if necessary. I actually have several of these for everyday use, camping, hiking, fishing, etc. The carbon steel blade does rust so some caution and light maintenance is required, but like all tools this should be no different. Take care of this knife and it will last a lifetime or more.

For the price? This is beyond expectations. This is my second Heavy Duty Companion. My first I've used as a baton, (waking it with another stick to drive it through wood), to cut kindling -it's that tough. You can use it in the bush to build crude shelters, etc. The Scandi grind ensures a sharper edge. It holds up well. It's comparable to the edge on a Damascus blade, in my opinion. It's a 3/4 tang, (meaning that the metal runs 3/4 of the way into the handle). Unlike a full tang, this gives the last inch of the handle some give, in combination with soft rubber construction, which absorbs impact, it is comfortable to use. Because of the carbon content, it's prone to corrosion. I put a pantina on my first copy and keep it lightly oiled. The back spine of the blade is slightly rounded and cannot be used effectively as a striker for metal sparking fire starters. The Sheaths are positive locking, (at least for my copies). I have not had issue, (as others have reported) with the knife falling out or being loose. It's surprising light for it's size and I have worn it as neck knife, under my coat to keep it dry.Read full review

The companion HD is a great knife, this being my first carbon steel blade not sure on forcing a patina or just gradually let one form naturally. Or may just keep up on the maintenance and keep it oiled and shinny. Very impressed with the beefy blade and sharpness of this knife and great grip I get from the rubberized grip handle...Great purchase, buy one you can't go wrong!
