Black on Black Not a Good Look
If you are a serious navigator like me, you will be disappointed with the N - S - E - W markings on the dial. Why would Silva go to all the trouble of making a great compass and not have some contrast between the four cardinal points of direction and the dial itself? White letters on the black dial makes more sense. Otherwise this is a great compass.

Good quad compass for running land lines
The quad feature works better for me when running property boundaries than an azimuth compass. Nice clear bright mirror helps old eyes center the needle to keep running a straight line.
