great movie! replaced my old dvd that froze up/death by pixalation! taking into context budget/story telling of its time/ a very enjoyable creature feature. the nostalgia factor (i 1st saw this as a kid) helps. still ,the stop motion is amazing. cgi can be great, has its place, but stop motion has a sense of reality(as though a rampaging allasaurus in mexico is real) that is really missed these days. spotted the similarities with king kong, a poor creature that should have been left alone in peace but again, this is a story of its time and type. stilled enjoyed it and others of its ilk. great bonus features-trailers for 4 creature features, harryhausen mini documentary/interview ray's web site says he has made a commentary trak (for hopefully a blue ray release one day!??) glad to find an original issue dvd-most versions offered for sale are warner archive-burn on demand dvd-r i think. not sure of their quality(good i hope for the rest of you) this was bought at a fair price for an out of print movie fantastic flix fan 12/16/2015Read full review

For all you serious hardcore dinosaur movie fans out there, this one is just for you. The most unforgettable 1969 classic which was originally an unfinished project by Willis O'Brien back in 1942. This movie is amazing, the effects are startling. No other dino movie back that year can top it. An amazing dinosaur western for all ages. I'm so glad I got it back in my collection again. Cheers to Ray's work for this movie.

As a kid growing my parents took me and my brother to the drive-in to see a dusk til dawn movie festival and one of the movies was called The Valley Of Gwangi and believe me that it held my attention. The claymation and the excitement of watching a Tyrannosaurus Rex reeking havoc over the Mexican city. Call it one of my coolest memories of my childhood. And for it to be mono it has great sound quality and not bad picture either so I do recommend this movie

This is the 1st "Cowboys & Dinosaurs" movie- And it is very good; They rope an Allosaurus! Ray Harryhausen did the special effects and they are very good- But the story is actually very good also. The only real down side is that at times the Allosaurus comes out looking Blue....When it is Gray in color it looks very realistic. (You also get a Pterosaur, Styracosaurus, Ornithomimus, and a Eohippus (Small Horse ancestor).

Before CGI and computer animation there was Ray Harryhausen and the claymation movies. They weren't as detailed as movies now but certainly had great action. Valley of Gwangi provides a 1969 view of dinosaurs in action (in the old West, no less!) that helped bring the Jurassic Park series to life. Worth watching!
