I purchased this phone after my iPhone 3Gs bit the dust. Understanding that the phone was two years old, and outdated (only running Android 2.1), I took it with a grain of salt. I have not been disappointed with anything other than the battery life. The processor is slower than I'd like but it gets the job done with ease and breezes through almost anything. I really like the optional car dock, which I purchased. I use it in my vehicle and as a holder on the table by my bed. I like to use the phone as an alarm clock, and the suction cup holder stands nicely on a CD case or a smooth table, making the phone a perfect alarm clock with the proper free app from the Android Market. The GPS is very nicely integrated into the rest of the phone and works like a charm. My only complaint about the GPS is that the "off-road" route preference option does not actually guide you to fun places to drive off-road - it simply directs you as-the-crow-flies to your destination. Bummer. The camera leaves a lot to be desired. It's difficult to take a picture that is in focus, even when giving the phone ample time and aim to focus on the subject. The video quality is barely worth having at all. Lack of an audio out jack means you have to buy the Garminfone 3.5mm adapter - which produces muddy-sounding audio on earbuds or headphones that sound pristine on a normal jack with a different device. Support for my 32GB micro SD card is a HUGE plus.Read full review
I like the phone quite a bit. I had a palm before and miss some of the calendar features of that phone. Overall it is a great phone as it combines gps, phone and a host of other features (wifi, a good camera + android). I like it because I can cary my gps with me, and if I find myself in the need of directions to an address I can get there at a moments notice. One note...I bought one of these for my son on ebay, and it died within a couple on months. It is a good idea to buy a warranty, just to protect yourself. My experience is buy new if you can, otherwise you never know what you are getting. It has a short battery life if you are giving it heavy use ie gps or streaming content.
I love the Garminfone! It is the best phone that I have had so far. The gps on the phone is an actual Garmin gps, and you can use the gps for driving or walking. Make sure to take your phone chaarger with you where ever you go, because will not last long if you have apps running, or use the internet a lot. I would recommend getting a car charger, which just pluggs into yours cars cigarette lighter. It is easy to keep the phone charged that way. I tated yhe battety a 5, because the battery is not bad, it just dies fast when using features on the phone like any other Android would. The phone will last preety much all day if you are not using a bunch of apps, or are on the web or talking a lot. I would recommend this phone to anyone. Garmin out did themselves.
Bought this for work and I couldn't be happier. The GPS is outstanding and easy to use. The Android based software is also a plus. I have had several blackberry's and other smart phones and I do have to say that this one tops them all!
This is a excellent phone for someone on the go. This unit is fast, reliable, built in GPS, no data required. The stand alone GPS works exactly as the portable units. This unit is able to install all the android apps from the market play store. The size of the unit with a great screen makes it easy to use. This unit has everything built in bluetooth, wifi. This unit comes with great battery life. Asus-Garmin, made great integration with the GPS software with Android. The unit is heavy and very well made. For the money, if you are on the go, this is a good unit for you.
