any mixer is real transparent to the sound mostly. controls volume. the difference with this mixer is the midrange on the mic channels. a lot of other mixers out there to compare, but they do not have the tunable mid. For mics you cut the mid about half way, then when the when the performer sings, turn the frequency to cut the area that subtracts from their sound. can turn the mid frequency to see where the voice pops out. The mid compact size is good without having to have 16 un-used channels. Some would not like the mixer for lack of built-in effects. We have an old reliable lexicon rack mounted effects in line with aux send, then we return it on the stereo channel. set the effects to AUX post fader. Good idea to cut all of the LOW eq out of the reverb return the channel inserts are good for a quad compressor (rack) for the first 4 mic channelsRead full review
