I'm just a dumb beginner, plugged it in and played it right off the bat! Not looking for a pro bass (isn't that a sporting goods chain?). Description said "candy apple red", picture showed a traditional bright red, not candle apple. Bought it anyway. I'm an old man, remembered the candle apple red dune buggies, hot rods, and speed boats as a child. It actually arrived candy apple red! I'm barely a novice, honestly a beginner, but I love looking at it while playing.

The bass looks great, but one of the pots buzzes loudly and the neck is a mess. It will need a good set-up when you receive it. The electronic issue needs to be fixed as well. Great looking instrument and I didn't expect perfection for this price, but the rough playability out of the box is pretty disappointing.

I bought this bass used. The action was way too high and the pots were crackling. I also noticed that the pickups are not that punchy.. Although the tone is nice(!), there is a lack of bottom end in them, so you need a good sounding amp to pair it with. All in all, for the price I paid, it was almost a crime not to take it home. I have been doing setups for my guitars for a while. If you are not able to do it yourself, you will need to prepare to pay about $50 to a professional tech guy, so maybe you should look elsewhere , if that is the case. I know I like the playability of it now so I might experiment with different pickups along the way. so Here is what I had to do: I cleaned the pots with CRC contact spray, got rid of some dust and grime on the paint, waxed the fretboard with a lemon oil, adjusted the truss rod and fixed the action and tuned in the bridge saddles. It is a gig ready now. I don’t think there is a better deal for a quasi jazz/P bass out there. Just remember not to expect any miracles straight out of the box with this price range.. I really like the fact that I now have a good sounding bass that I won’t be afraid to take on a small club gig, and leave my better bass at home. From my experience, unless you are buying a bass for at least five times this value, there will be some work to be done anyway. All in all, this LX200B is a steal in my opinion, but might not be for everyone.Read full review
