I can't believe I got such a quality instrument at the price I paid - nice tone, excellent build quality, beautiful wood, an amazingly comfortable, playable, straight neck with NO fret buzz anywhere, all for under $400?! I've played a lot of basses in my time, and the others I own are very high-end instruments... and this Squier doesn't take a back seat to any of them! Highly recommended - a LOT of bass for the money! Well done, Fender!!!

I picked this one up after reading reviews on the bass talk forums,, I was led to believe it was different than any other Squires, better pickups better construction better electronics and they were sought after. I was saddened to realize after the postman dropped it at my doorstep and I plugged it into my Markbass amp that it isn't much different than any of the other Squires, bad tone bad electronics, the usual problems that keep me away from all squire basses. Now that being said, the binding and block inlay are impressive as is the finish, it just doesn't make up for the garbage electronics. They're great for a starter bass, but I'd save your $$ and grab an American or at the least a Mexican Fender.

It is a great entry level bass, and is actually not far from a pro level instrument. It is an outstanding value. I believe that it is worth more than the bass sells for. There isn't anything that actually needs to be changed on the bass, other than a good set up (to fine tune the action, etc.)and some better strings, if desired. I was surprised how well the bass played right out of the box. The bass looks amazing! I was able to see actual photos of the bass I ordered, and I could see it has a two piece body, with no serious knots or flaws visible. It's good to see what you're getting! There are lots of guys buying these basses, and then modifying them to their liking. It is a good platform for that kind of interest. (The bass has good bones.) But for someone just looking to get started on a 5 string, or someone on a budget, this bass KILLS! Buy one. Everything works well enough on this bass to make it a "keeper". The low cost will please you, especially when you start playing one.Read full review
A nationally touring musician recommended this bass to me, saying "hey - if I break it or lose it, I'm only out $300". I took it to a gig two days after it arrived, thinking I'd play it for a couple of tunes just to try it out. I couldn't set it down, and my fancy graphite neck 6 string sat on its stand all night looking at me, wondering where all the good times went.

Sweet addition to my p bass and jazz , modified jazz, Jaguar, basses. Good price and the humbucker pick up makes it sound different than the other fender basses. Love it and perform with it. Great bass for not a lot of cash!
