The Digidesign Mbox 2 is 2nd Generation hardware for Pro Tools Recording. Although its considered to be older hardware, this device is great for any beginner or novice engineer who's using Pro Tools in home/small recording studios. What I like about it is the most are the multiple in/ouputs. Which makes it fairly easy to setup a microphone for recording and one for talkback. Or if you are using live or analog instruments, the multiple inputs allows you to record multiple instruments in one take. In addition, I like the 2 channel gain knobs which allows you to control the gain on each input. both knobs has phantom power supply, built into the channel. What I don't like about this unit is you can not use the line in & mic input at the same time. Also, I do not like the fact that you have to use the more expensive balanced 1/4 audio cables. Using un balanced 1/4 audio cables will result in buzzing & or whining noises on your in/outputs of this device. These noises can also be captured into your recordings so balanced cables are highly recommended. Lastly, I do not like the fact that the newer versions of Pro Tools will no longer recognize this device. In comparison to the Mbox 2 mini & the Mbox 1, this device has more capability as there are waay more in/outputs and the sound quality is much better. If you are shopping for this device, I would recommend it.Read full review
I needed a recording interface to work with my Pro Tools 9 and this interface gets that job done nicely. I am using a Kurzweil K-2500X and a Kurzweil SP3X keyboards and an AKG C-3000 studio condenser microphone channeled to a Dell laptop running Pro Tools 9. This interface works better than I expected it to work and looks better than I expected it to look. I purchased from this seller because they were honest enough to advertise this as an Mbox 2 which is exactly what it is. Most other sellers were advertising the same unit as an Mbox 2 Pro which it is not. Try to know what you are buying and buy from an honest seller only. Good luck.
One of the mic inputs doesn't work input #2 and it didn't come with the software in the description it said it does#😡

This is the ideal piece of hardware for home studio recording. With Pro Tools DAW it makes it possible for one to record and produce professional sounding recordings. It is an excellent way to become familiar with recording, mixing and mastering recordings. I like it so much that I bought two more.
The Digidesign Mbox is a must have if you use ProTools DAW.
