Excellent for what I was expecting from a very inexpensive short scale guitar. The neck and frets were pretty good and it sounded more then OK through a Fender Mustang amp. However, it should go without saying that this can only be a starting place for this guitar. As virtually any guitar under $1500 or so, and many over, it needed the frets leveled and re-crowned to be perfect. The pots are OK, but better ones with a better cap is an improvement, as are new pickups. I also changed to locking tuners, although the original ones did hold it in tune. OK, so bottom line, what I am saying is, this is fine for a beginner, child, or adult wanting a short scale guitar. To go further then beginner, make some typical changes and get fret work done and you will have a guitar worthy of your talents. Now, this vs the Fender Squire Affinity Strat. There is a style difference with this one coming with 2 humbuckers instead of 3 single coil pickups. This also has a full normal width neck. The Affinity has a narrower neck which, if your fingers are fatter or for a beginner that can be annoying. Strings are closer together on the Affinity, but the neck being narrower is good for smaller hands overall. Each starts out pretty darn good and each can be made to sound excellent with a bit of work and some cash. If you want the short scale, it is well worth it. IMHO I have one of each.Read full review
It is a nice little guitar. After adjusting the neck and new strings it is one of the better 3/4 size guitars. Remember not everyone's taste in the action and kind of strings are the same, I would definitely recommend it for children and people with smaller hamds.

READ ALL: Great little guitar for a beginner. I bought this for my sons (13, 11, 9) I've played for years and wanted something for them to learn on. The MIKRO does just that. The action is descent, pick-ups are average, tuning keys are a little weak (tune B4 playing) , effects are almost non-existent. It's not an instrument you would perform with-but it's a great little axe to learn on. I did have to take it to a guitar tech shortly after purchase- the frets expanded past the neck - making moving your hand up and down the neck down right dangerous - not to mention the e string would get stuck on the frets very easily (not under warranty). The tech said it was typical of the MIKRO (he is an Ibanez dealer)and was due to lack of moisture in the guitar (what can I say, it's winter time and I run the gas heat). Overall, I rate it as average. But I gotta say-for around $100 I've been too hard on it. I would buy it again and don't regret buying this one. But many individuals (on other sites) have claimed they perform on stage with this axe, and I just don't see it happening. Great guitar for smaller hands or traveling (I find myself taking it everywhere). Thanks to Ibanez for making an affordable, well made, and well functioning electric guitar that my kids won't "out grow" in a year.Read full review
I've bought 3 of these for friends' kids. For the price, it's quite decent, there are no glaring weak components, just no great ones, either. The bridge, pickups, neck/fretwork and tuners are all quite playable. Two things: some tuners are tighter than others (adjust the top screw holding the key on), and intonation is waay off with light gauge strings (0.010), 3 of the strings are probably a 1/8 tone sharp at 12th fret, and I've taken teh bridge saddles down to where they're compressing the springs pretty hard (i.e. there's not much more room for adjustment. So you might have to stick with .009's)
Traditional Ibanez quality in a down-sized children's electric guitar. Great finish quality. Comfortable to hold. Neck is very well built and is straight as an arrow. No fret buzz yet very low action make it easy for young hands to play. Plugged in to a good amp (Fender Mustang) it has really good tone for and economy starter guitar. I'd recommend this over any other "no-name" guitar. It's only slightly higher in price but a world of difference in quality and performance.
