Have to disclose that I am not a professional, so my impressions are strictly amateur class opinions. Was set on the Mackie but read some questionable reviews especially about overall quality slipping since the company was sold. The Denon has a few features that I thought I would need : big sliders for the main output controls (easy to see and grab and very clear what position they are set at), built in effects that work on instruments or vocals, USB connection for output to computer (can't believe Mackie doesn't offer this on the small mixers), USB port for a little light, headphone volume control and LOTS of options for inputs and outputs. I've been using the mixer for a few weeks now, mostly to let my girls practice singing through their own mics. We input a backing track from the laptop or phone or ipod and sometimes I play along (poorly) on the guitar. The mixer lets me compensate for one girl's soft voice, add some expansion to their voices and output the whole thing to my crappy old Fender amp so we can hear it loud. It's just great. And for $200 it's hard to believe what you're getting is true. The sound is clear and strong. I'm not a musician or sound guy but I am a stereo dude since the old days and I can tell if something is clean or not. This mixer is clean - no complaints. I wish Denon made a nice little case for it, and it would be cool if there was a battery pack option. Hope this review helps someone.Read full review
