Bought this for my 4 year old grandson. I enjoyed building it and he enjoys playing with it. Instructions: very good, each individual step is pictured so there’s no badly translated written instructions to deal with. Quality: again very good, they did not skimp on material. The parts are solid and each piece fit and functioned without any hassles. An adult should expect to spend a few hours building this kit, the number of parts will probably surprise you, or scare you! But every part is easily identified and if you follow the directions, as I did, I can’t see why anyone would have difficulty with assembly. I was pleasantly surprised that three of the parts included are there just to help with assembly. A small amount of oil is involved and It comes with a nice little cup and applicator for that oil. There’s even a specially designed clip for your water glass to aid in priming the hydraulic (water) cylinders. Once assembled, it worked! And it works well, the controls feel solid and responsive even when my grandson is jerking them around as fast as he can. The “suction cup” feature is a little weak but we did manage to get it to pick up and hang on to a package of garden seeds. The grippers on the other hand held on nicely to whatever we picked up. As well there were no leaks from any of the cylinders or tubing connecting them to the controls. Another feature I liked is the water cylinders themselves are transparent. This allows the kids to see how everything functions when they push or pull a control lever. Push (or pull) on a lever and watch the control cylinder push the water to actuator cylinder on the arm and see why that causes the arm to move. Bottom Line : if it looks interesting to you purchase it, you won’t be disappointed with the quality, instructions, or functionality.Read full review

We got this for our eleven year old son. He's always loved building and this was his most enjoyable challenge yet! It has taken a while to build, but he has done it all on his own. One piece broke, but we quickly got a replacement from the company. He's fascinated with the hydraulics and is very excited to try some other similar projects.

this is a sophisticated piece which requires real assembly aptitude and patience. The instructions are in a book not a pamphlet. A remarkable piece, a hydraulic version of the old Armitron.
