These older radios have an added aftermarket PL board installed from Comm Spec. At this time, they do not seem to work however this could be due to an adjustment that needs to be made or perhaps the switch is simply dirty and needs cleaning for the contacts to work. I will be examining this in time however it really isn't that important to me as I intend on using the radios for either a remote I plan to build or another Allstar node in the near future. These radios do work for RF operation, have loud audio and a DTMF pad that is larger than most other radios these days. For my remote and Allstar setups, I am already looking for an IC-4AT to supplement these two radios. I am happy with the radios although I was hoping that the PL situation worked as well but it was a chance I took. I do have a local 220 Mhz repeater in my area that has a remote with it and therefore if the PL situation worked right away, I would be happy to use one of the radios for this repeater and the other for my projects. I am glad that I was able to negotiate with the seller since I did not even know if there were boards inside the radio which could have been missing.Read full review
