These HF radios are probably still the best audio ever made. 10 meter thru 160 meter am, lsb, usb, cw and fm (optional ). The radio is user friendly. No worries with it solid state technology. No tubes to keep replacing. Working the different bands is a joy. I highly recommend these radios to the Newbie Tech as well as the professional rag chews talking around the world. Radios are virtually care free. I own 3 of them and that's how much I like the Kenwood TS430S. Thank You. 73s.

Started out in the hobby with a used 430 and still have it. I also have my Elmer's old one now. Both are very easy to work on. Except for the vias problem in the PA of the first (easy fix and a video is available free on the web) both rigs are rock solid and still favorites to run. I prefer the receive audio of these rigs over my 590, less fatiguing. And with the audio filter for AM installed it's a great SWL machine. Mine will outlast me.

I own more than one Kenwood radio. I would recommend Kenwood to anyone. When asked about the brand, I tell them they can't be beat. The quality is awesome. The best choice for someone getting into the hobby.

I have had my "Advanced" ticket for 23 years. When I found this radio I was looking at over 12 different rigs that would work 10 - 160 meters all modes, and not take up a lot of space. This is an extremely well built rig. It does not have all the bells and whistles, so there is less to repair. It is very easy to use and I can't see that I would ever sell it. I have bought and sold about 12 radios over the years. I love this rig.
for a first radio this one is very good, easy to use and performs very well. I am well pleased with the purchase.
