The Echo CS-450P offers impressive value combined with excellent durability and unconditional reliability. When you need it, it is ready every time. Very smooth engine performance, combined with excellent anti-vibration saves fatigue. The commercial grade engine is rated Class A for 300 hours of EPA compliance. Pre-filter particulate matter separation is outstanding. The automotive style air filter is easy to clean, inexpensive to replace and very effective in protecting the engine. The interval between cleaning the air filter is longer than with other saws I have used. The variable advance electronic ignition allows for quick starts, usually just one pull when warm. The automatic oiler is quite generous, and I appreciate the fact that it is adjustable. I can turn it down when using a 16" bar, and turn it up when using a 20" bar. This is not a Strato engine. There are no open ports re-breating spent exhaust gas during the intake and power stroke. This means the saw is less cold blooded, with shortened warm up periods. Like all chainsaws, it must pass rigorous EPA air standard regulations, so they tend to arrive adjusted quite lean. Don't trust the factory adjustment. Once you get the saw, have it professionally re-tuned. This will make your saw run cooler, last longer, and provide maximum power, while providing you with the reassurance your saw will last a very long time.Read full review

I have never owned an Echo product before but decided to buy the CS-450 chain saw, with 20 inch blade, because of the reviews. I liked everything right from the get go. All parts were there, easy to understand instruction and safety booklets, packaged up very nice. Assembly took 10 - 15 minutes. Went and bought a gas can, mixed in fresh gas and oil, bought bar oil and headed back home. Topped off all the fluids, double checked everything, pumped the primer bulb until it filled with fuel, pulled out the choke, flipped the switch on and pulled the start cord twice and the saw came to life. I let it idle a few minutes to warm and then slowly pulled the throttle several times until I got it to a midrange rpms. The oiler was pumping just a little much and was easily adjusted. Cut up a few pieces of fire wood, then easily adjusted the tension on the chain. The saw idled well and work easily under load. I am very pleased with my purchase. I use my chain saws typically for cutting fire wood and pruning trees at my residence. This saw is easy to assemble, adjust, maintain and use.Read full review
I have owned many different saws and many of the major brands and Echo quality can’t be beat. Echo saws start very easily, cold or warm and are all day, every day dependable. The CS450 has features that typically are more “pro saw” features. The 300 hour EPA rating, adjustable chain oiler and Magnesium crankcase are all features that its competitors (Stihl MS250 & Husqvarna 450) do not have. If you want your CS450 to rip, do a muffler mod and the non-limiter cap carburetor adjustment and you’ll be REALLY impressed by how these saws cut.

Well packaged and arrived promptly. Looks good and do not expect any problems. After testing it turned out to be a POS. Don’t ever buy from a pawn shop. Thieves

I've only used it twice, but it seems excellent so far. It is assembled in America, not sure about all the component origins.
