The 041s will run forever with common sense care. I have a 60s model that is beat to death and it still cranks and runs. It was used everyday for nearly 40 years by my family's logging operation. Great heavy bucking saw with a bow set up correctly. I plan to run a 20" and 25" bar on this "new" 041 just bought on eBay. These saws will power through big wood. Not super fast, but lots of torque.

The 041 is an excellent saw of 61cc displacement, it makes good power, with lots of torque. It can handle wood of up to 48 inches in diameter when bucking and I have fallen douglas fir as large as 53 inches in diameter at the butt. they will last for decades with proper care (Mine is 40 years old and I used it for logging as well as cutting firewood with it every year since it came to me from my grandfathers estate in 1989) They are realitivly light, at 15 pounds with a 20 inch bar and chain, and even now easy to maintain with good parts availibility on ebay. The only drawback; air filter clogs up kinda quickly, but, as long as you carry a couple of cleaned spares, changing them when you gas up the saw, you have no problems. I highly reccommend these saws for anyone who cuts their own firewood, especially if their budget doesn't allow for a new saw of this size/power range.Read full review

I think these 041's are one of the best saws ever produced by Stihl. They dealers don't carry many parts anymore but these saws can last for decades with some common sense care, they are heavier then the new saws but they are definitely built to last.
