This power amp is very clean sounding. It's ideal for a zone 2 set of small to medium speakers (bookshelf). It's also perfect for bi-amping speakers with separate high and low frequency terminals as it will provide 100 watts (8 ohms) per side (either with a separate amp or by utilising a receiver's pre-out and looping back to the same receiver's built-in amp).

The Onkyo M-282 is a pretty rubust 2 channel amp that can serve multiple purposes.. I currently own 2 of them. One of them I use for recording studio purposes to power my Yamaha NS-10s near-field monitors... The other I have powering my Zone 2 on my Onkyo TX-NR807... I have approximately 10 speakers running through a speaker switch..... Pros.... Unit its great if you are not running a low impedance load in it... Cons.... Unit will cut itself of if you have a high load on it for expended periods of time... (but you can put high loads on it a low levels .. No problem but when you get the volume to about -7 to -5 db....its over) if your zone is only 2 channels with 2 to 4 speakers you will not have this problem ... I have 10 on mine... 8 indoor and 2 outdoor on zone 2 All in all Super Amp .... Low noise, Low voltage....PowerhouseRead full review
Have been a big fan of the brand for years , Despite the fact that almost everything is being built overseas , Onkyo , to me , remains something of great value . I bought the amp for a very special project . So far so good . Clean sound , strongly build and cheap . A great buy .

I like this unit because of it's power [100 REAL wpc], versatility [a power amp that can be daisy chained to other units], and that always present Onkyo build quality and ease of use. I highly recommend this unit, especially if you can get it for around $100 like I did.

I'm a musician with a small PC Based studio at home. I've tried several combinations of amplified monitors driven off the mixer, and haven't been pleased with the results for the money I spent. Rather than try something bigger or better, I chose to use the Onkyo to drive an old trusty set of Bose 301's. I've heard bigger and better, but nothing that pleased my ear as much when I was mixing down several pieces tonite. The Amp is Solid construction to start with as most of my other Onkyo gear was. I'm feeding it with a Mackie 1402 mixer, into an EQ box then the Amp. I can finally get the sound I'm lookin for at moderate volume. Get one, you won't be disappointed I wasn't...
