This guitar has a very warm, sweet sound, and as far as I can tell, it is very well constructed. The action is a bit high, but that's easily adjustable. This is the least expensive guitar I could find with a solid top, rosewood sides and back, and ebony fingerboard, all elements of a high-end guitar.

Handmade in Spain, of the right woods (solid cedar & rosewood) planed extremely thin & correctly braced, with an ebony fingerboard & nickel silver frets. Set up perfectly with frets flush with the fingerboard and minimal elevation of strings from the frets all the way up the neck. Plays sweet, clear and strong. This is one of the best classical guitars I've ever played. It's MSRP is fair at $2,430; it's usual selling price of $1,730 is well worth it. Used ones are going for $1,100 without case. To find this in pristine condition as a new, open box sale with an excellent case for $800 was incredible. I'm thrilled.

As a beginner I never should have started with this but I know I'll never get good enough (in this lifetime) to need anything better. A guitar this good is much easier to play than some cheap thing. I find I am learning faster than I would have imagined - playing lessons by Sor and duets by the Icelandic guitar school Eythor Thorlakfson.
