It does everything you'd ever want for the things you didn't realize the processor could do, the effect processing is amazing, the amplifier and microphone simulation is simply awesome, and of course using GK guitar or equipped guitar for guitar modeling is absolutely amazing. Incredibly convenient for gigging I run it straight into a PA system at church and get everything I could ever want out of it, I'm able to use it with my synthesizers for ambient tones like strings and things of that nature. Tracking is perfect no issues at all I wish I had purchased this when it first came out it's about the best investment I have ever made as far as my gear is concerned. I would recommend it however to someone who has a little experience with processors this is definitely not something someone starting out or a newbie wants to play with they could become very easily discouraged. But I use mine with a Windows 8 tablet and I can edit everything right there on the tablet you can also use it with your computer as well for editing and it makes everything so much easier and much more intuitive, I really can't find anything negative to say about the VG 99, I just wish it had a built-in synthesizer for pcm tones like the GR55, I did on the gr 55 but the VG 99 is far superior as far as actual guitar processing goes, and of course you can use it with external synthesizers and sound modules.Read full review

This by far is the best music gear on the market. It has every guitar known to man and then some. I really have no need to purchase another guitar ever. I discover all the amps and effects it has plus the different tunings, choose of strings and pickups (p-90,single-coil,humbucker,active or passive) and even a banjo. I had the very first unit when it first came out. The VG-8 but this one blows that out of the water. The best investment I ever made.

Not only does the VG-99 have great effects, distortion, echo, chorus, etc. and great amp emulation - it also models different stringed instruments. Bass, acoustic guitar, dobro, les paul, strat, tele, dan-electro, banjo, mandolin, SITAR - and to top it off, gr300 analog guitar synth. With two parallel effects chains and individual tuning for each string in each chain, the sound of the 12-string acoustic patches is amazing. I use the BOSS RC-50 looper when I perform, and the VG-99 complements the looper perfectly. I can get authentic bass, any guitar I can imagine, and vintage synth all with one guitar. If I get bored with that, I can hook my AdrenaLinn III up to the guitar out, and attach a synth to the midi out. I'm trying to conserve floor space, so I appreciate that a double footswitch and a continuous controller pedal can be used with the VG-99 as an alternative to a full midi control pedal. And the D-Beam controller is a great dramatic effect. The APC-33 clamp let's you attach the VG-99 to a microphone stand, saving even more floor space.Read full review
