Great old radio, top notch US build quality - these radios were among the reference standard for many years and many examples of these radios still continue to function well after 50+ years and remain popular and numerous in varying states of condition with most still being viable for use and restoration. The 3000/3000-1 were produced for approximately 7 years (1963-1970) and the most major attention these radios require at this point in time is a renewal of electrolytic capacitors, control cleaning and sometimes basic alignment adjustments to play like new once again. Many will still play well in original condition but if you are looking for a top performance 3000-1 Transoceanic these are the things typically required to do to make one perform top notch once again . Can't go wrong! As the T/O 3000,3000-1 were a reference standard radio for quite some time and all these years later they still are top performing sets in AM, Shortwave and also with very good FM performance too boot.Read full review

I did purchase this radio to repair one that I already owned. My T/O specialist was able to get my radio up and running with parts from this unit. I also had a broken upper door hinge which this unit supplied. Mine works great now and the remains of this unit will be used by the repairman to keep many other T/O's running.

the best shortwave out there, far better, than whats produced today. quality contruction thruout. only be carefull when picking up this radio, zenith in there wisdom did not design a better handle, also the battery box has a problem with past battery leakage, those problems aside its as good or better than most out there. transitors are easy to replace if you have a doner radio, ( recomended) and they are still affordable

These were built back in the day when quality was king. Build by hand, these can still be used and working 60 years later

Maybe not as sensitive as the new stuff out of China. BUT no cheap plastic here, no cost-cutting integrated circuits. Just beautiful, artistic design and the wonderful rich sound. Will run hundreds of hours on a set of 8 D cells, which, when bought in lots of 12 or 24 cost about a buck apiece.
