Very much enjoyed reading this book. Buddhism often focuses on males, and I wanted to read about a female Buddhist master. The first 50 pages are biographical, telling the reader how Dipa Ma came to meditation and what she did for the people where she lived, first in India and later in Burma. We learn about her marriage at age 12, her inability to conceive a child until she was 30, and her incredible thirst for knowledge and her yearning to share that knowledge with other women. The second section is titled "Dipa Ma's Spiritual Path" and is a series of interviews of people who came into contact with Dipa Ma and what she taught them. Part three is called "Dipa Ma's Legacy", and it is a series of 10 lessons that she felt one should incorporate into life to be happy. Lastly, there is a how to section on vipassana meditation and commentary on how Dipa Ma has influenced the world even after her death. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in women and Buddhism and/or in meditation.Read full review
