I am both a video game fan, and a Star Wars fan. In recent years I can say that only a few Star Wars video games were a worth while game, and at the same time and interesting piece of the Star Wars collection. Rogue Squadron II, and Knights of the Old Republic were those games for me, and I think you can add The Force Unleashed to the list. Fast paced force action is the intent of the game, and it certainly delivers. Some things about the actually gameplay have their quirks, and some things about the game are tedious. The target locks, and using force grip to take hold of multiple objects sometimes works and doesn't work the way you want it to. You've seen the commercials where the character pulls a Star Destroyer from the sky, yet I can't pick up a double the size storm trooper... The story seems straight forward but has a few twists and turns that keep you intrigued until the very end. I don't know if (word for word) this will make it as Star Wars cannon, but there have been FAR WORSE attempts at Star Wars video game writing. If you are a video game and Star Wars fan, this is a must play (but it is far from perfect), and if you are just a video game fan, you still might enjoy some of the action.Read full review
This game was pretty good. It had cool new Euphoria physics, great story and voice acting, and some pretty awesome visual effects. Overall the gameplay is fun, you can use your force powers to dominate lowly stormtroopers (its always fun to throw them at each other or over cliffs). However there are some bugs which take away from the experience somewhat.. sometimes aiming is very difficult and you will spend a minute or more just trying to get your aiming cursor on the item you want to force grip or enemy you want to attack. Sometimes the camera can be a pain, especially in boss fights where you have no control over it. Another major bug is sometimes during certain levels the holocrons (items you collect to unlock stuff) and bonus objectives dont show up as being completed, and will prevent you from gaining the achievement for the holocrons. Overall I liked this game and i will play through it again on hardest difficulty and hopefully LucasArts will send out a patch to fix the holocron bug.Read full review
First star wars game to truly capture the powers of the force and that impressed me very much! However, at least 3 definite improvements need to be made in the game engine in 1st: difficulty level in regard to the ease in which enemies seem to be able to take overtake you at various points during the game. I had to actually change the game settings to easy 3/4's of the way through the game which I have NEVER had to do since I started playing games in the 80's. 2nd: the camera movement issues that seem to hinder both a: the direction you throw items that you have picked up using the force (very hard at times to hit a target you actually want to hit) and b: the graphics (horizontal lines that appear on your tv screen when you move the cameral left or right/up or down.) The graphics are pretty impressive which makes it hard to believe that nothing can be done to fix those lines... I think every true star wars fan should at least check this game out.Read full review
The Good -One of the Best Star Wars stories ever if not the best -Action packed -Love the Euphoria engine that makes the troopers behave in the oddest manners (like grabbing hold of each other when you pull them up into the air... too funny) -Customizable lightsaber (you can get a black lightsaber!!!) & lots of different costumes to choose from -Lots of different worlds to explore & polished graphics to view them in The Bad -Extremely short -Getting shot at can sometimes be extremely annoying when you get knocked down onto the ground and can't get back up to do anything about it -Not much replay value asides from different costumes and mirrored levels -Training modules could have been so much more if it allowed you to customize how many guys you're fighting and what type of guys you're fighting -A lot of the game feels like a missed opportunity -No vehicles/space battles -Troopers who can block your force powers become annoying as well -Some sequences just take all of the fun out of a battle because they become predictable and overused The Verdict Must have if you're a Star Wars fan but maybe not at $60. For everyone else, this is a fun rental. Hopefully the downloadable content that is released will help out a lot with replay value. 4/5Read full review
First of all you should know this is a fairly short game. It has good game play and graphics. On the first level you start out as Darth Vader and you get to use the full powers of the force. You will figure out that when you start as the apprentice you don't have the full powers of the force but, you will get them as the game goes on. You can upgrade the powers of the force and get different combo attacks with your light saber. You can also get different color light sabers and costumes. The story mode is interesting and you can choose two different endings either the Light side, or the Dark side. You can choose the dark side at the final boss fight by jumping down and finishing off Darth Vader or you can choose the Light side by fighting Darth Sidious. After the final fight you don't get any more missions which I thought was a disappointment. Overall I would rate this game a 7 out of 10.Read full review
