This is my favorite Final Fantasy. Yes...ever. Now before you start saying "This man obviously hasn't tried out 7 or 9..." let me first say that this primarily has to do with the fact that it is an amazing story, and also 100% portable, being for gameboy. You start the game with four players, and you go on a series of quests which are all interwoven to provide clues to an apocalyptic event in the future. Eventally, you travel between the past, present and the future in order to gain new weapons and clues. Each time is with its own monsters and weapons (including lasers in the future). Eventually, you will find a ship and be able to fly it around, and even first the "first shot" at enemies you meet on maps. But what makes this game truly unique and entertaining is transformation. After fighting monsters, a piece of meat from the monster, or a robotic part (if they were not alive) will appear. You can throw this item away, or immediately use it on one of your party members. This item transforms the party member into a random living or non-living monster, which complete rewrites their stats, their weapon allotment, and best of all, their innate traits. Transform party member into a battle robot, and they might get a free missile strike. Or eat some meat and become a medusa, and use stone gaze in future fights to turn weak enemies to stone (instant kill). You will have hours of fun just exploring these transformations. I highly reccomend this game, but as it is an rpg, be prepared to put in some time in order to reap the full benefits.Read full review
Very nice FF3 legend. If you like retro RPG this is a must play. With improvement to the gameboy color like IPS screen this game is a gem to play.

This is an absolute gem of a game. Love JRPGs?! Love Original Gameboy?! This one is for you. Actually follows the Romancing Saga storyline, not Final Fantasy.

This game is actually one of the better RPGs (Role Playing Games) out there for the original Game Boy. The first two Final Fantasy games don't really match up to it. This game gets rather in depth and does require some logic to play. Considering the platform its for, the graphics are great, and the interactivity is great. If you're looking for a classic game to stimulate your mind and give you a severe flashback, this game is for you. Yes, it does require more thought to play than the Super Mario games, so if you have trouble with those, I probably wouldn't recommend this game for you. However, if you like games with an actual plot line and a quest other than the very played out "Save the princess!", go hunt down a copy of Final Fantasy Legend III.
