While our favorite blue hedgehog's had a bumpy road in his lineup of games, this game is definitely one of the better ones. Does the game feel rushed? Yes, a little bit. Are there some bugs here and there? Yes, but it does not ruin the experience of zooming around 3D environments while listening to above-average Sonic music! A great buy in my book, seriously!

Sonic Adventure was a revolutionary title when it came out in 1998. It was the first 3d entry in the main Sonic series and was a launch title for Sega's last console The Dreamcast. Sonic Adventure is still seen as a revolutionary title in the Sonic series, but unfortunately I didn't have a great experience with it. The game starts out moderately fast but then becomes slow almost immediately after that. Not to say that this game is boring, but it looses a lot of traction after the first stage.

A classic Sonic Team game. It is short and was rushed I thought back in 1999 when it was first released. It has many small glitches and is hard to get used to at first. None the less it but has a bit of a retro feel and works with the VMU memory cards. The Memory cards work with mini game that is like a Digimon though they can be extracted from both DC and VMU. They can race in an 8 player chao race while entering back into your memory card to take with you. The game is lots of fun and interested though very short. A dreamcast classic. Graphically maybe a loss when you see sonic adventure 2 but that game lacks part of the exploring feature that is included in this game. Play as 6 different characters but really I only found sonic and Tails levels to be the most fun. there is a emblem goal list multiple ways to complete a level and earn secrets to keep you occupied but the end game happens fast. 9/10Read full review
Rating 8.5 out of 10 stars Back at September 1999 (December 1998 for Japan), Sonic Adventure came out. As a launch title for the Sega Dreamcast, the game sold obviously well and was very well received. This is with no doubt one of blue hedgehog's finest and greatest games. The gameplay is solid for each character (except for Big the Cat), the stage designing it's great, the soundtrack is cool (the first rock soundtrack in the Sonic entries), and it possesses one big innovation: the Chao creatures. But why it's four stars and not 5? That's because of: the graphics (I understand that this game is old, but Sega could have easily handled better graphics), Big the Cat (real annoying to play with this character) and also lacks an extra like the mission mode in Sonic Adventure DX. Anyway this game will always remain as one of the greatest titles for the Dreamcast and it's definitely a must-have if you own the console. Also, a port for the GameCube was made which in my opinion it's better (except for the lack of the VMU and the Chao gardens).Read full review
Sonic Adventure moved the series into the 3D realm (not counting Sonic R, sinch it was a racing game); This game for its flaws, (mainly the camera and control at times), is a fast and fun adventure game. Featuring series' favorites such as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and a bunch of new characters you won't really remember, excluding the robot you can play as, its story was pretty cool. This game as slick and fast graphics even by today's standards, and the voicework isnt all that bad. (Okay, it is.) If you're wondering what makes the 'Limited Edition' so special, it was a Hollywood Video exclusive; It was available for rental only, 2 months before the system officially launched on 9/9/99. Sega used this to boost possible sales for the game and its ill-fated system. Also, a combimed total of 400 disc only copies were shipped to Funcoland and other game stores for use with their Dreacmast kiosks. If this game follows the tread of other rental only games,( Flintstones: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak for NES) now is definitely the time to buy. Especially with different sources claimed this as the rarest US released Dreamcast game, and one of the rarest overall. Look for its price to skyrocket over the coming years.Read full review
