As a former lover of the HP41C series I must say that the HP32sii is now my favorite calculator. The HP32sii feels great in the hand. The keypad -- while not as responsive as the HP41c keypad -- still has a good tactile feel. The scientific functions are more than adequate for my post-engineering days. I use the metric conversion keys all the time so for me this is a big plus. There's just a simple elegance to the HP32sii. Highly recommended.

enter some, any function, and the result is an integer plus a weird huge fraction... and it doesn't even have a CLEAR option...obviously, somewhere in the history of this arcane old previously brilliant device, answers lie, but have no doubt, it cannot compare to internet websites that have greater clarity, precision to 10 decimal places, and are free...my beloved old HP 11C handheld calculator no longer can do x to the y exponent and trying reciprocals 1/x gives an error message, sadly, the old HP days are totally kaput, gone forever...maybe a toy today but try not to do serious work....sorry....

I purchased this HP 32SII calculator because I originally owned one when they first came out in 1989. As an engineer I rely on my calculator on a day to day basis. My original one began to have issues a couple of years ago, so I purchased a new model of the HP calculator (42 and 33S) both great calculator, but it was nothing like my original 32SII My only dislike about this great calculator is the inherent problems after years of use, (internal errors) all calculator have some type of problems after awhile and HP lets you run tests on the internal workings so if you do purchase one of these 32SII calculators make sure you run the built in test on all functions of the calculator. HP no longer repairs this model of calculator. The fact HP stopped making what I feel was the best calculator in the history of HP. I've owned several calculators since my original 32SII, but none really compare. I would highly recommend this calculator to any science student or engineer who would like a very accurate and reliable calculator as their day to day work horse. It has served me well over the years and I hope for many years to come. I still love it, and I will always recommend this HP model to all my engineer friends and anyone who does some heavy calculations. I wish HP would bring back the HP 32SII as a "Special Edition Anniversary" offering. I would buy several. GO HP!!!!!Read full review
I have bought a few more spares. The HP 32SII really is the best true calculator that HP has ever designed/manufactured. As I stated in previous reviews, it is not the most powerful, but it is one of the most useful and versatile calculators in a modern context. What I mean by that is that Engineers today do not really require the over abundance of functions that the more powerful units possess. What we need is versatility, ease of use, and enough functionality to be effective when we are not sitting at our desks, where there would likely be desktop access to tools like MATHCAD, MATLAB, etc. When I am away from my desk and in a lab or meeting I have found that the HP 32SII always has what I need to quick calculations and simple yet very useful programming tasks (and its programmability is GREAT by the way!). The physical design is superb, and the calculator is simply beautiful. It has become part of who I am as an Engineer, and it actually transpires confidence (as another author once wrote, and I agree). I consider this unit forever relevant, forever great, and a testament to the awesome status that HP once had as the King of manufacturing calculators for REAL ENGINEERS!!!! ************************************************************************************************************** I have used a number of hp models: HP 48GX - super powerful, but not so easy to use HP 48G - the non-expandable version of the HP 48GX, has less internal memory HP 42S - IMHO the best scientific calculator HP 15C - Great but I must say over-rated, certainly not as good as its descendent, the HP 42S HP 41CV - the best keyboard of all, a very powerful machine with augmented with application modules (like the advantage pac). Without modules like this, its power is a bit on the modest side. HP 41CVX - a slightly beefed up version of the HP 41CV, and it has a clock HP 32Sii - Not as powerful as some other units that I have listed, but one of the best designed calculators and is extremely easy to use. I find that it has the best overall "feel." It supports complex numbers but not as completely as some other models like the HP 42S, HP 15C, or the HP 48GX. However, I still find its complex number support quite useful. So, the HP 32Sii is easy to use, is very powerful, is very well designed, and is quite useable for daily engineering tasks. I love this unit.Read full review

This is one of the best calculators HP made with RPN. It is compact, light and is good for field use. I still prefer the 32SII model to the new 33s with the two line display.
