I really like this shaver. I always get a close shave and it seems to get most size hairs long or short. It is also quiet and the battery charge lasts for a long time. I have had one for a few years and it has worked great. I only have 2 complaints and they are that new razor heads are not the original rq12 they are now rq12+. I have never tried the rq12+ but they do not have good reviews. And my other complaint is that the price to replace them is rediculus. That is why I bought a new one.

This RQ12/62 (RQ12+) is NOT the quality that I have come to expect from a Norelco replacement head. Only 1 or at times 2 of the cutters will stay engaged when the razor is on. I have tried repositioning the the cutter assembly, swapping the cutters around and making sure that nothing is bent/ broken, all to no avail. Shaves GREAT, if, you want to push it into your face hard enough for the cutters to stay engaged, but, in normal use it ends up pulling the hair quite a bit. Fit on the razor very easily and well. Seems to be a good part till you turn it on. Norelco refuses to do anything about it, so now I'm stuck with an expensive head that I can't use. I would NOT recommend this item to my friends.

Stay away from this ridiculously overpriced, mediocre shaver. Performance declined tremendously after only about 50 shaves. Even before that I had to go over and over the area under my jawline until my skin was irritated. Then it just stopped working, but Philips Norelco, after blowing smoke up my keister, refused even to tell me it wasn't going to honor the warranty because it wouldn't accept my eBay receipt as proof I bought it. I am going back to Braun, who makes far better shavers and stands behind its products.

Replaced an earlier Norelco after 5 plus years, yearly change of blades, and much good use. After two weeks can say this Philips Norelco is a real improvement and at $148 cost only 3 times as much as to replace the blades on my old one once again. This one affords a quieter, more comfortable, closer shave. It's also more handsomely designed though I question whether it will be as durable as my last one. Unlike the last one, the heads are said to require--and do-- almost daily cleaning because the whiskers are trapped in the blade holders. In short, I'm a happy customer so far! And two months later, my admiration for this product only grows. I only need recharge every three weeks or so and the heads need cleaning less than I thought and there's an indicator when it's needed.

Save a ton of money on the overpriced name-brand replacement blades (which wore out on me after 6 weeks, not 6 months as promised), and get these. Obviously the build quality isn't as high, and it wobbles a little, but works just fine. I'll never spend another dime on Norelco's blades! I have a Smart Touch XL.
