Have owned this for about a month now. This replaced our Sony 55 inch LED which only lasted for 4.5 years before the panel died. Not impressed with Sony as several products I have owned over the years did not live up to the hype. The difference in the picture between the new plasma and the LED is like night and day. The plasma picture is outstanding. It does have a problem with glare in a well lit room. We have sliding glass doors in our family room which faces the TV and I had to tint them to reduce the glare on the screen. As long as the TV is not facing a bright window all should be fine. Normal room lighting does not cause a glare effect. I went online and got the calibration settings for the TV, they work great, picture is awesome with very deep blacks compared to my older LED. Very easy to setup and adjust. We have Direct TV and HD channels at 1080 and 720P are amazing. Minor drawbacks, only 2 HDMI inputs. This is not an issue for me as I am only hooking up my Satellite box and Blue Ray DVD player. If you have a game console you will have to install a switch because the inputs are very limited. The internal speakers on the TV are nothing to write home about. I have an older stereo system surround sound that uses RCA jacks. The only output on the TV is an Optical Audio out. If you plan on hooking the TV up to a surround sound system with RCA only input you will need to purchase an optical cable and a Digital/Audio converter. I picked up a cable and converter box for under 20.00 on Ebay. The converter box also has a headphone jack which you can plug stereo headphones into. The TV itself has no headphone jack built in so again if you want to listen to the TV through headphones you will need a cable and converter. I am very pleased with this TV, the picture is awesome for the price and I would highly recommend it. It is not a smart TV no built in wireless but my Blue Ray player is wireless so I can stream movies through it to the TV. The TV also has a USB port. I took a 64GB thumb drive and loaded it with Music and Movies and it works perfectly on the TV. I also have a router connected to my Direct TV box which allows me LAN connectivity to my DSL connection. Overall this is a great product, large screen, awesome picture at a great price. 2 thumbs up.Read full review
One of the few remaining plasma screens. Plasma is great if some viewers cannot be perfectly in front of the screen. Unlike LED, the picture does not fade as you move to the side. In my small room, not everyone can sit "in front". In features, it just does not have that many input/outputs. I have made the system work with additional connection equipment. Got exactly what I expected!
For picture quality you can't beat a plasma. I wish I had gotten a 60 inch one but they were sold out. The 51 is ok. Delivery guy stayed and helped with set up to be sure it didn't have any dead pixels. All went very smoothly. Too bad they are not making Plasma TV's anymore.
