I have a white 60 pound boxer who sheds constantly, and his hair is difficult to remove from carpet and furniture. I thought our current vacuum was doing okay, until I did a head-to-head test with our recently purchased Dyson. Whereas our current vacuum was still leaving a thin layer of hair on close inspection, the Dyson was able to almost completely remove it on multiple passes. The more passes we did, the more clean the spot got, unlike our Hoover. The turbine power hand tool also removes hair from out suede couches way better than our previous vacuum's hand tools. So in short, if you are getting this for powerful suction and/or to remove pet hair, you'll be impressed. Overall the rest of the vacuum is great. It is a little to complicated when switching between floor vacuum and hand tools. The entire handle has to slide out for you to then attach the right tool, and it doesn't slide back in super easily, so frequent switching got somewhat annoying. The weight is average, but it rolls across the carpet extremely easily, and the auto adjust height is an excellent feature. It'd be nice if it had a lever for switching between locked upright or leaning back for use, as the built in "catch" can sometimes be fickle if you don't give it a thorough push. Though this might be a sign of being a used vacuum. For being a refurb, the condition was good, with minimal signs of wear. Their isn't a manual included, just a brief picture guide, so I had too look one up online to see what the other tools are specifically for. Empyting the bin couldn't be easier, and the cord is high quality and very long. Read full review

I have had the Amway Cleartrak vacuum since 1999. It's still going strong, It is heavy. The Dyson is lightweight, and performs quite well. I like the attachments hose on the Cleaktrak better and the canister holds more. The hose on the Dyson is a little tricky to take out and put back and the canister is 1/3 the size of the Cleatrak. Both have great suction.

The DC 65 Animal Complete is the best vacuum ever. I have had a DC07 for probably nine years and it has been fantastic. It is stationed upstairs where I will continue to use it. The new DC 65 is lighter weight, handles like a dream and almost sucks the carpet off of the floor. I have wooden floors, linoleum, and area rugs and it maneuvers over all of them without ever having to change a setting. The dirt bin is easy to empty and clean and the two filters are easily accessible and easy to clean. The power cord is mega long and reaches a great length before having to unplug it to move it anywhere else. Dyson vacuums are more expensive, but worth every single penny. There isn't any replacing them every two years because the motor burned out or they permanently lost suction. I If cared for properly they last a very long time and they do have a five year guarantee, a complete instruction booklet and a phone number for Dyson should you have any questions or problems. Dyson is the only vacuum I will ever own. I was convinced from the time I bought my first one. Read full review

Day one. This is my first day using the DC65 as it is replacing the DC14, and I have to say that I am very impressed with how it cleans. I read a few reviews and looked up the stats to see if it was worth replacing the DC14. I took a chance and bought it to see if it was all it was cracked up to be. I want to tell you that there is a night and day difference in how this performs over the DC14. The biggest thing is the air flow and the small dust it is able to pick up. I bought my DC14 new and it never had the air flow or ability to pick up fine dust. In just 30 min it pick up what the DC14 left behind and almost made it to the max line. Just had a Rainbow demonstration and was not impressed at all with it as it still has most of the cons sense I stop selling them. Out of all the vacuums I have seen and used this is by far the most I have ever been impressed. If the DC65 will hold up as good as the DC14 then I would have to say this is the best vacuum you could possibly buy for the money. Read full review

I have owned many vacuums in my time and to say that the Dyson DC65 sucks is an understatement. There is nothing that this vacuum won't pick up! I have 2 cats and a large German Shepard. Every other vacuum pales by comparision. I have and would highly recommend this vacuum to anyone that is looking to replace a lesser piece. Even my wife, who was a hard sell on such an expensive vacuum sings it's praise with every use.
