Unlike the other reviewer, the fact that Mr. Van Praagh doesn't hang everything he believes to be true on the teachings of the Bible (which by the way, MANY of us also don't believe in "God" the way those of the Christian faith do) is exactly what I like about him. I like that he doesn't force-feed Christianity down my throat as I read his material and that he challenges the reader to question what may or may not be the truth is refreshing. Mr. Van Praagh is a very talented medium (even if he does get a tad too "sappy" for me sometimes) and I have enjoyed his books very much. I don't necessarily agree with EVERYTHING he (or any other medium) says but I learn something from each book I read and take that information and expand my knowledge and my own beliefs from it. This, to me is what these books are all about. Take the parts that make sense to you and learn more eacxh time you pick up a new book. My question to the other reviewer is this: If you believe so strongly in the teachings of the Bible, why then, did you pick this book up in the first place?Read full review
Ever since I can remember, my mother has always had the ability to see and communicate with those who have passed on. Through her, they would relay messages to their loved ones. She would pass along messages to the living and they were always right on. Although my mother never used her gift for monetary gain, I do admire those who write about their experiences and pass it along to the rest of us. I feel sorry for those who have not had the opportunity to witness these moments of truth. Reincarnation has existed since the beginning of time. I know this in my heart to be true. It's OK if you don't believe it. Those of us who do, would never condemn you for your belief. In fact, we'd never tell you that if you do not believe in reincarnation or in life after death, "you will not be saved". God is LOVE and he gave us free will to chose our faith. Forcing others to believe in a certain religion by using scare tactics (ie. "eternal damnation") is not what God is about. Open your heart & read this book, it might spark something within you. I recommend it.Read full review
He doesn’t believe that Jesus dies on the cross for our sins. Van Praagh rejects the idea that Jesus is the unique, virgin-born Son of God, the second person of the Trinity. He believes in reincarnation, which the Bible does not teach. What does he believe? That we are all God. Sorry, I just don't buy it. He is either deceived by a evil spirit or is a con artist. The true sign of a prophet is that all their predictions come true 100% of the time, his do not. The Bible says “Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.”(Leviticus 19:31). For more information see this website http://skepdic.com/medium.html I do not recommend any of his books.
