I found these to be a great inexpensive way to water my chickens. They are well worth the price, if you can figure out a way to mount them. These have 1/4" plumbing threads on them and no instructions on how to mount these on a bucket. I ended up cutting 2 rubber washers for both sides of the bucket and using a 1/4" galvanized connector on the inside to screw it tight. I also put silicone under each washer to make it water tight. It seem to me that these should include a nut and washers to mount on a bucket. I realize some people will use galvanize pipe and even put multiple water cups on a run, but you still need to have some way of mounting to a water source. They do not recommend using with direct water from a faucet, so it needs to be put in a bucket or some other water tank that needs the washers and nuts. Very useful when put together, just had to track down parts and figure it out.Read full review

Attached these to five-gallon bucket and used plumbers tape to secure the seals. One leaked anyway, so used a tray underneath to catch the drips and any overflow. Because of extreme heat, I had to watch closely. Every hour or so, I would go check the cups and show the pullets how to fill them. Chickens just never caught on. I added two leaky nipples (from my first fail) to the bucket and just use it as a slow-drip reservoir now. Only improvement is they can't walk in it and have fresh water longer for the most part. I still provide foot soaks for them in hot weather.

This is a good product, BUT, it needs to have a nut with flat washer made onto it, to help it seal against the bucket you are using. We are using a Tidy Cat litter container, and it is very thin walled. We put hot glue on the fittings, and it still leaks water. Also, the cup is a nice, tight fit, in fact, too tight. When you try to remove it from the valve, you nearly rip the whole thing out of the bucket. This could be a great product, if these modifications were made. Sincerely, Barry

The only problem I had was when one froze & broke, totally my fault. My Japanese quail have no problem using these cups, and I can put them up where they don't get dirty, but they can still reach. I have a gravity watering system, and these work great!

Even though I wrote to E-Bay to explain that I did not get what I had ordered from Backyard Flock I still have been charged with no reply. I have not been able to find a phone number or an e-mail address for Backyard Flock so I'm going to have to take my time to write to them with a photo of what I ordered and what they sent. So I like the cups but is currently is not a good value do to the order mix up.
