The Allen Sports S-555 5 bike hitch carrier is a very well thought out product ! First of all, it only requires 3 nuts and bolts to assemble ( I added 6 flat washers into the mix) assembled the rack by looking at the picture on the box. The bike rack weighs 30 lbs. , nice heavy material to support the weight of up to 175 lbs. . The tilt down feature to allow tailgate access is awsome !! I mounted this onto a 1999 Chevy Tahoe. Before, when I wanted to bring a bike somewhere I would have to get it into the back ( without doing damage to the interior). That also severely limited the cargo space for other things. Now I can transport up to 5 bikes (I have 14 !! ) and still load up the Tahoe like there's nothing in it !! I got mine at a deal of the century price of just $88 !! Free shipping !! Other auctions sell the S-555 up to $350. The average price seems to be around $ 170- $200+ . If you're thinking about getting a large capacity rack to transport bikes, then this is the one !! P. S. This is a nice unit -- quite solid and with good features. Assembly was quick and pretty straightforward. Not certain putting 5 bikes on it will be easy -- but my normal load is 3 or 4 and this gives me extra capacity if needed. Like the folding arms -- especially when on my wife's Escalade ESV, otherwise I think I would need a 2-deep parking spot!!

Good construction. Quick and easy tilt function. Rubber bike straps work great. Once the hitch bolt is tightened, the bike carrier has very little movement. Overall very happy with it.

It showed up on my porch with a ripped up box that was expected and a bolt falling out when I picked it up, I was told the boxes were torn up but they could have taped up the holes, Anyway it was the first bolt to fall out so I didn't lose anything but inside the plastic cover that the bikes rest against had a small piece broken on one edge that I glued back and snapped in place. It never moves so it will never show. The rest was in good shape and very well made.
