I had to have this as I have been a Rush fan since 1980. This band in a sense has never sought out attention or a whole lot of self promotion and as a result have remained just out of the circle of main stream notoriety. A "cult" band if you will. It is compelling to me because its the first time I've ever heard their story of origin and it comes from their own mouths. As they have matured, they have opened up and let the public inside their heads. After watching it, a fan will feel that he or she has a better feel or understanding of the pulse of this band. It moves along chronologically and shows most of all of the phases during the 30 plus year reign. It is straightforward and comical as well. I imagine it would still be an entertaining flick for non rush fans especially if one likes rock in general. However, if your a fan its a gotta have it for the collection. Beyond the Lighted Stage explores the history of one of the best progressive rock bands to ever grace the planet. Some nice footage of the earlier years and some live snippets as well. Mostly it covers their 40 year career with interviews and special guests appearing. This is a must for RUSH collectors!
