This effort is getting a bad rap by the metal heads stuck in the grunge era. Don't get me wrong. I love Soundgarden. There's nothing like him wailing in Badmotorfinger. But that was 18 years ago. We've all grown and his voice has changed. This album has a couple of songs that don't mesh well, and the intro is a little cheesy. That said, The ones that do work are unforgettable. Sweet revenge, Long gone and scream are worth the price of admission alone. Club beat with one of best vocalists of our time. If your looking for old hat hard rock. Its not here. If your looking for something bold, different and refreshing. Pay the man....
The front cover of Chris Cornell's latest cd, Scream, shows the former Audioslave and Soundgarden singer smashing a guitar. Which is apropo considering there is hardly any guitars on this record. The production of synthesizers and drum machines sounds like a rap record without the rap. Hip hop producer, Timbaland, produced this record, but the audience that he is trying to reach, i.e., me, is not paying attention. There are a few numbers on this record that are either catchy or unsloppy, but the overall feel of this record seems that a teenager is the proper listener and most of them would say Chris who? Don't get me wrong, Chris Cornell still has one of the best voices to come out of the grunge era, but it would be nice to have the music actually played by human hands and talent instead of a computer program and a few lines of code. I would have to say to Mr. Cornell, please come back to us and give your hard rock and metal fans something that they are waiting for, a great rock record not unlike Euphoria Morning. As far as Mr. Timbaland is concerned stay in the forest.Read full review
I was so excited to find this cd. I have been sick and haven't reviewed the cd yet. It does have quite a few scratches and I'm hoping it will play well. Thank you for great shipping and timing! Sandy

As a huge fan of Soundgarden and the Euphoria Morning album, I just can't believe that Chris would waste his time with this. I try to keep an open mind when listening to new things, but this just doesn't work, unless maybe you're a pre-teen girl discovering Britney Spears for the first time, and even then I doubt it. I guess you have to hand it to him for trying new things, but I feel as though I've been had for my money. Chris attached his name to sell something inconsistent with anything he's ever done, and called it music despite lacking real instruments. Bottom line, if beeping sounds and fake electronic beats with Chris' voice dubbed over sounds appealing to you, then by all means, buy this album. But if you're looking for anything resembling his earlier works, or actual music with real musical instruments, you probably should skip this one.Read full review
I knew there was no way for disappointment to set in when you have the frontman of Soundgarden, Audioslave, and a sharer of Temple of the Dog creating his mere solo album! Take no extra time to get a doosey out of "Scream"! Ssceral strong and powerful songs throughout!
