I often buy boxed sets to get an artists music that I am not totally familiar with because it is supposed to offer the best of the best.Full disclosure I was never a huge Santana fan but was willing to give this boxed set a chance. I listened to it from beginning to end 3 times.I found many of the solos and songs to be amazing,...but,...a few of them seemed to be a bit over the top with the shrieking guitar.If you are a huge Santana fan this is probably orgasmic for you,..however for the casual fan(like me) it was o.k.

I have to admit I'm one the biggest Santana fans around and for many years. I live in the San Francisco bay area[born&raised] so I think I have pretty good knowledge on this group. This particuler collection of cd's has a little bit of every sound Carlos has had up to the early 90's Latin,soul,vocal, instumental,blues and funk. Just a taste of all his variety of sounds but most importantly keeping his latin flavor and what got him to his superstardom Their is some solo work with blues legend John Lee Hooker,Larry Graham ,Vernon Reid and jazz giants Weather Report. Out of 10 stars this is a 11 !!! A must in your Santana catalog- Peace & Enjoy
