Originality folds into Radiohead's "Hail to the Thief" (limited edition) on two levels. On one, it is a daring musical statement, combining sophisticated ideas, an array of instruments that includes the studio, that pushes Radiohead in a new direction. On another, its innovative packaging steps outside mainstream marketing. Here lyrical movement and stepping beyond conventions come together in a material sense. The CD is contained in what could be mistaken as tourist guide. Opening the album we find a lyric sheet and map. Each requires in depth reading. They help listens to understand Radiohead's cityscape. Within this metropolis we walk through a urban landscape that is familiar and disturbing, as well as evocative and menacing. What is truly exciting is the map. It is semiotic: made up of many signs. All are gaudy. Many are misleading or at worse, provide disinformation. What we make of this aural world is entirely up to each listener. To make sense or non-sense.Read full review
A great cd, and if you like Radiohead, then you should definitely own this item. The songs on the cd are interesting, and all are equally different. Good buy.
