This CD is a personification of the electric guitar virtuosity. Point blank. Even though Derek Sherinian himself is a keyboardist, the album (just like all of this albums) is heavily oriented to....guitar! And what a guitar it is!!! Yngwie Malmsteen, Zakk Wylde, Steve Lukather, Al Di Meola - and others will play, shred, twist, bend, race and duel Sherinian's keyboard at every turn, each to the limit of their mastery. (Billy Sheehan on the bass, too) Expect killer passages, wild sequences and crazy rhythms. This CD only leaves you gasping for more. I highly recommend ALL of Derek Sherinian albums, including the latest "Oceana". He always has a brilliant guitar team leading his tracks, and they all are amazing. A definite must have! However, having said all that - i also must warn that most likely the people who will enjoy the album more(and probably buy it) are MUSICIANS (and electric guitarists in particular). Non-musicians might not like it, as a great deal of the album hinges on technical prowess and the display of high instrumental skill. But, regardless of your musicianship status, - if virtuoso progressive rock/metal genre is your thing: then go for it by all means. All Sherinian albums. Get all of them. It will be more than worth it. And yes, sure i'd recommend this to a friend!Read full review
some good drumming parts. A song on here was put on the spock's beard bonus disc with various prog from different artists. Good prog metal here. Was expecting a little more punch, but it's good enough. I liked sons of anu when I heard it on internet radio.
