I got this to replace a much loved (& used) TM RAC 58* Lob that I was using. I find that this newer version of my old reliable is in every way as dependable and predictable as its predecessor. The real improvement that I immediately noticed was an increased number of shots that check up. On faster greens this is especially rewarding. I’m not sure if this is a function of new groove technology or just new grooves… does matter why – I just love it! A short story to illustrate... Just yesterday I was out w/a friend checking out a new course. A single joined us on the 3rd hole - a longish par 4. I hit my approach shot a little left of the green. (one of the reasons I use a lob a lot...) We searched for the ball for a few minutes but could not find and assumed it had run into the hazard behind the green. I dropped and knocked the 30yd chip into the hole to save par... As the others finished holing out I searched a bit more - certain my original was not really lost. I found it and my partner asked if I wanted to play it.. (friendly match) so I said sure. The single questioned my choice saying 'you might end up worse'... I chipped it - this time @25yds but from much thicker cut - like its predecessor my chip hit soft, checked and tracked to the pin... Unlike its predecessor it lipped out leaving me a 2" putt for par. The single said 'who are you guys?!' Us guys are a couple 12+ handicappers w/ great equipment! Drive for show, putt for dough... wedge for whoa!Read full review
I've had my 56 for a couple of weeks know and have been so impressed I've picked up the 52 as well. I'm a 4 handicap. I play Mizuno Mp 29 forged blades and have always had a tough time finding a wedge with the same sense of balance and weight as my irons, until these. These wedges are truly perfect for me. They feel as solid as any wedge I've ever hit. I really like being able to sense where the head is thruoghout the entire swing...dead on solid. For anyone who plays a lot, you should really take a look at these. The fact that you can replace the face at will is tremendous. Personally, I've never had the grooves on my wedges last more than a year to year & a half. So, being able to replace just the face saves money & makes sense.
"I searched everywhere, man, looking for the one - the one who can please me, love me all day long. Where have you been all my life? Look what you've done to me, babe." "Now that I've found love, I know what I'm gonna' do with it." "You raise me up, so I can play on mountains. You raise me up, to cross the stormy seas. You raise me up to more than I can be." "And I will always love youuuuuuuuuuuuu!" Excellent wedge! Searched for a very long time to find the missing link in my set and this is it. It has already saved me more shots than the previous wedges it replaced, and will most certainly save many more. I absolutely love it! Since I didn't know what to say to make it justice, I tried to paraphrase some famous songs and let those words be a guide as to what I think. :)
The 60 degree wedge has a great balance and feel to it and is perfect for shots from 60-70 yards in to the green. I purchased it to duplicate one I bought earlier in the year to keep in Florida. Previously, I have used my 56 degree Taylor Made Sand Wedge for all shots around the green requiring a very high loft and soft landing to stop quickly.
