I purchased the Halo P3 used, but it was in excellent condition. When I pulled it from the box I was amazed at how heavy it was, due to it's massive power supply no doubt. It is also a big unit, about 15" deep I guess, and 3 1/2" tall. It is most impressive to look at with its thick brushed aluminum fascia, heavy metal case work, sofisticated control layout, the easy to read bright blue display, and nice blue backlights behind each button. The front panel is well laid out with the large volume knob on the right, but not a motorized knob, it controls a resister ladder, and the knob actually goes around more than twice from beginning to end making fine adjustments a breeze. On the left is the power button and next to it the selector button, the tone control button that turns the tone controls on and off, and over to the right is the balance controls that actually adjust the volume resister ladder on the display. Above those buttons are the bass and treble buttons, they also show their settings on the display. In all a very simple set of controls, I took to them instantly with no learning curve, very intuitive. The back panel looks busy with lots of connectors from side to side, starting on the left there is one balanced set of inputs, and an RCA set that share the distinction of being Direct. These direct inputs bypass all internal sound shaping circuits with nothing but the volume knob and the gain in the path. In the center are the regular inputs, all very nice with high quality gold plated connectors, and then the outputs, again a set of RCA's and a set of balanced. It has a few small switches to select things like turning one set of inputs from a phono input to an auxiliary input, a very nice feature. In the future I may want to get an outboard phono preamp and this feature will allow me to use the same inputs. Plenty of inputs for any two channel stereo buff, even a set of outboard processor loop connectors for those who also dabble in surround sound. I had it hooked up in no time, the manual is concise and complete and I only had to refer to it once, to see how to set the switches on the rear. It also has all of the modern remote control connections too, but I have no use for them. When I first turned it on I was immediately impressed with how pristine the sound was, very engaging. It is both analytical and musical at the same time. Every detail of my CDs and records were heard as never before, in fact it was so revealing that poor recordings sounded poor, and great recordings sounded amazing! At first I thought there was a problem with the tweeters in my speakers, but then I realized I was hearing the tape hiss from the master tapes on poorly recorded CDs. I have it set up with good affordable high end gear, a forte' amplifier that does 400 watts into my 4 ohm Legacy focus speakers, the second to the top Sony ES CD player, Magnum Dynalab tuner, and a decent Pro-ject 'table with a mid line Grado cartridge. the preamp is definitely worthy of the rest of the equipment, letting me hear what all of these pieces have to offer, great bass extension, treble extension with no harshness or haze, good solid sound staging that is wide, but maybe not as deep as some super expensive preamp, but still deep enough for a very realistic and enjoyable experience. The phono preamp is great, finding new information in those old grooves, best built-in phono preamp I've heard. It performs way beyond it's asking price. Highly recommended.Read full review
great pre-amp, its' not the usual sounding pre-amp, I think it's a little light on the bass, it's very easy to use and at least it has a headphone jack. For the price its hard to find a comparable preamp.

Can't say much about the product ! I haven't used it yet. I'm waiting for one more piece to complete my puzzle.I must say however,Parasound P 3 preamplifier appears to be in excellent condition as posted. New in the box.I opened it,I contacted the authorized dealer in San Francisco for authenticity and warranty. So far it seems that I have nothing to complaint other than warranty for the product was not transferable.
Great piece of equipment, a real value. Look at a lot of sales but this was the bet for the money. 😄
