A good consumer Hi-MD unit that includes one 1GB disc. It has no line-in or mic inputs, however. NH600 comes with inputs, and models above 600. The RH910 the current cheapest Hi-MD recorder with inputs. Apart from that, it's a MiniDisc player and downloader that's on par with the rest. While somewhat unwieldy the ubiquitous AA power supply is more welcome than prismatic Ni-MH. The jog-dial is about as perfect as can be asked for. Unfortunately, no backlight is a huge downer.

I invested heavily in the minidisc (MD) technology by making live recordings and transferring a lot of my CD collection. I drew the line there and refused to go with MP3. While I love the sound and convenience of the MD, the sound industry moved on, and replacing the equipment has become increasingly difficult. I was so pleased to find this unit in the original packaging and at a "reasonable" price (about 3X its original price). It is working very well and has allowed me to extend the life of my choice to stay with the MD.

Had to replace my original. Only wish it had come with Sonic software disc. Otherwise, the unit plays great.
