This unit is all I could ask for. It is easy to operate, has good picture quality, and lets me transfer all my vhs tapes from my kids' childhood to dvd. That,s a lot of priceless memories I'm able to save at the touch of a button. Love it!

I've inserted the DVD-R disc which is blank and not finalized but it automatically ejects it and cannot record. I've tried everything for about a hundred times to insert the blank DVD-R it partially doesn't work at all. The VHS tape still works while it is recording. It only works on the finalized DVD discs as well.

I'm glad I saw this on eBay, at first I saw one w/ no remote & no step by step instructions & thinking about getting it but I keep looking for something similar & find this one in good condition & waited until the combo arrived which it had arrived yesterday & hooked it up to my TV(same brand ) in my bedroom. In short, it works pretty good.

Even with the on line owners manual, this unit was difficult to use. After I finally figured it out, piece of cake. Makes great DVDs.

I bought this because I wanted a decent DVD recorder to convert over 1800 hours of sporting events I had recorded on VHS over the last 20-ish years. After reading the reviews for this product I hit E-bay to see what I could find. This seller's feedback and price sold me immediately. It records to all formats of standard DVD including dual-layer. DL discs can record just shy of 4 hours per disc at SP, so this was perfect for me. I got the recorder in a few days and had it set up and ready to go in about 10 minutes. I did a few tests because I was unsure of the reliability of burning to DVD in real time. It works brilliantly. I have already converted 50 or so tapes using a variety of DVD brands: Memorex, TDK, Verbatim, Sony, Maxell and I have not had one coaster yet. The menus are straight forward, the remote makes sense, the naming of recording is easy, and the finalization takes about 30 seconds. DVD-R discs don't need to be formatted, but DL + discs do.It takes about 30 seconds to do that before recording. You can also start burning to disc, not finalize it, and then add to it any time down the road. It will continue to play on this device, but not on others until it has been finalized. Once I complete my conversions, I plan to move this device to a system so I can burn DVDs directly from a DVR. Slowly I will step away from VHS and VCRs and this device will help me get there. I have been VERY happy with this purchase thus far.Read full review
