This is the most realistic rack mount unit that I have ever heard. The Brass is to die for and if you can find the card better than most vst's I have heard. The piano is almost as you were sitting at a concert grand and the sound amazing. The string sounds and orchestral patches are among the best with many lifelike features as breath control in a flute ...wow. A wonderful product and very studio worthy ....buy one....

Ha! I really did not expect this unit to be this good. I’m a Yamaha man, been so for years. I picked this up primarily because of the price... holy $#!%, I did not expect it to sound this good! Somewhere I read someone mention “weak sounding organs”, not the case at all. One thing that had to be done from the start, VELOCITY SENSITIVITY has to be adjusted immediately. That and slippery keys are my only gripe. Oh wait, also the Sfx per tone... come on Roland, people want to set their own custom effects paths... the DM12 is great for that. So, I’ve got this unit running through midi to a Yamaha FM expander, and a DM12 with a master JDXi for doubling up the drums. Oh the drums are magnificent! Better that my $800 drum set, way better sounding. This unit is insanely light weight. Not sure what else to say, I’m kinda bouncing around here. Cool feature, I can run a quick sequence (drums) through midi from the jdxi and ‘record’ it into the sequencer on the FA. Same with the other 3 midi channels. This is cool because I’ve got a bunch of songs I’ve made on the Jdxi that can be tweaked on a far more powerful Daw style system. Oh yea, the sequencer is simple and intuitive. If you’re used to a daw with a mouse you can do this it’s just more button chicks than mouse drags. Overall, way more bad ass of a studio synth/work station than I expected. Oh, and I do industrial with it, the car crash tone is fan’punch you in the face’tactic! Great for industrial 90’s sound. Read full review

I especially love the full color display. The DBeam is great for rotary EFX etc. Arpeggiator rocks and the sound library is extensive when you include the FREE online stuff. Yes I have some VST's that sound better, but for live I finally gave up on them because of CPU and other stability issues. This board is a great utility board for live performance. When not playing live, I even have used the sequencer when I didnt feel like booting my PC. Its very intuitive and easy to use. I would recommend getting a second power supply because it is proprietary and it cant run off the USB port. The only issue I have had has been some noise in the USB port when using as a DAW w Ableton. But that's not the main reason people get these. Just use a dedicated audio adapter and run analog into Ableton. Its a lot eaiser and more flexible anyway. Highly recommend.Read full review

I give it a 5 star because it has what I was looking for. An affordable powerful and versital platform to use with my controller on stage. I am a "covers" musician who plays in bars and events, so I need good quality of sounds and a versatil registers/voicings/sets changes. Studio Setting in this keyboard gives me all that, easy access witch the pads or even faster changes with a pedal. It is like a big boy synth in comfortable size. I can even create my own sounds and tweek the ones already recorder to match the ones I look for. Organ Drawbars setting is a big plus when playing blues. It has everything I need. Probably the only downsize for me are the key's size. Bit small for my chunky fingers.

Took a bit of getting used to, but once you figure it out, picture= mind blowing up! The sequencer, effects, 2000 presets an 19 other Libraries. Easily switches from full poly to solo, split keyboard. Great value from Roland.
