Nice keyboard action, adjustable touch, soft,medium and hard. Touch can be disabled as well. Grand piano sounds great. Drums are very nice. Very light, easy to setup and take down. ypt300 is designed as a piano trainer and includes lessons and features to help with this, but it also has a 400+ other voices as well. The organs are great, the sax and oboe and other horns sound very good. It's not a workstation, if you want to compose and sequence you'll need to interface thru midi or run the audio thru a stand alone recorder for laying down tracks. It does let you record 4 songs in memory, but you can only play them back,they are not saved in a standard format that can be exported to any other software. It's great for playing or for using as a midi sound bank, 32 note polyphany, keyboard split and 100 out of the box rythms is handy for composing and trying different arrangements. Its not a synth, the parameters are not adjustable. Its a midi voice bank with a nice keyboard. Its great for learning piano and with a sustain pedal added to it, it does sound grand. For the money its hard to beat although the newer models add even more features. It has a single button to return it to standard grand piano mode, so when your settings get hosed up and you can't stop the drums, you just press "grand piano" and voila, all is well in the world once more. This is a nice feature. The only bad thing is the LCD display is small by modern standards, its monochrome and it doesn't show everything at once, because of the lack of room. So if you change tempo, it may show your current tempo, but it won't show which rythm track you were using. I would buy it again. I think for me it will meet my needs for a few years, which means it will have cost only a few pennies a day. very much worth it.Read full review
For this price, I guarantee everyone out there a keyboard of this quality is practically nonexistent, although in part it is because this particular model is discontinued. Nonetheless, this is going to be an outstanding keyboard for beginners, hobbyist like myself, and serious musicians who cannot afford expensive models. The design is delicate; all other keyboards I could find at this price seemed cheap and elementary, almost like a kid's toy. The functions are more than enough for most people who spend time playing keyboard. It has almost 500 voices, and many other features that I have yet to explore. The resilience and the level of sensitivity of the keys are excellent. I have played several other 100$ keyboards and the yamaha ypt300 feels infinitely better than those. In conclusion, do not think twice about it and settle with this keyboard; I have spent quite some time doing research on keyboards and it would be most patently clever to get this, if you can find one of course (it is not easy to find this model due to its discontinuation, as I have previously mentioned.)Read full review
This is my first digital keyboard and it is outstanding. I did a great deal of research and YPT300 is one of the best available because of the multitude of features, quality of sound and Yamaha's dedication to creating top quality keyboards. I found this used and in excellent condition. I am having the best time exploring this creative outlet. If you get the chance to bid and win one of these for under $100, don't hesitate.
