Life is too short to spend it in the kitchen!
First--If it's Southern Living, you know it's good. My family and I live a fast paced life. I want to be able to do things with my kids and still be able to sit and have a healthy dinner with them. Fast food is okay sometimes, but I think dinner is where you can relax and really listsen to your kids. We are active and love to be outside as long as possible--this book takes the pressure off of being home at certain times and allows time for more important things. The food is healthy, tastey, quick to make--and also easy. All of my kids participte in crock pot cooking--what more could you ask for?

Meals that taste like you've been cooking all day!
This is one of the few slow-cooker cookbooks that I've purchased that contains so many great recipes. There are also regular recipes (non slow cooker) to compliment the slow cooker recipes listed... all showcased in a wonderfully illustrated book. Even though you can purchase this fantastic book on half.com for a fraction of the original price, it's every bit worth the regular cover price of $24.95. A perfect gift for the busy people in your life who don't have time to cook but want raving good meals to serve to their friends and family. I made the Green Bean Casserole for Thanksgiving (which is a slight bit different than the traditional recipe)and was pleasantly surprised when it was the first dish that disappeared! Since today is New Year's Day, I currently have, "Hoppin' John's Chowder" (also from the book) simmering as I'm writing this and I wish you could smell the wonderful aroma that's currently floating around my house!Read full review

Southern Living Slow-Cooker Cookbook
Southern Living Cookbooks are my favorites, I own 12 or more, haven't counted lately. I have always been pleased with Southern Living cookbooks and this one lives up to their fine reputation. For a slow-cooker cookbook this book goes well beyond the basics of beef stew and chile with wonderful meats, side dishes, even salads and desserts! The Buffalo Chicken Tender Salad is terrific; a great, easy weeknight meal! I am anxious to try the Mocha Pudding Cake. It looks yummy! I highly recomend this book. Nancy H.
