Actually, I purchased this book to replace my personal copy that was requisitioned by the leader of our quilting group. We all loved the ideas presented by Nan Moore, and had difficulty finding a copy locally. This book is very well organized in how Nan Moore presents her illustrations. She progresses from freemotion basics to more detailed patterns like feathers and Greek Keys. Each illustration shows a clear starting point and some illustrations also include a photo of a stitched sample to show how it looks in the real world. The author offers many different themes in her illustrations. She shows over-all designs with variations, symetrical designs for some block types, borders, quilting around appliques, leaves and flowers, and cute bugs and fish. I love the ease of use of the designs. I have several similar books such as this, but this one is by far my favorite, because I can always find the right idea for each quilt. It's very user friendly. I have a long-arm quilting machine and can easily replicate the designs, but I have friends in my quilting group who have used the designs for freemotion quilting with a "sit down" home machine and have had equal success. This book is a definite MUST-HAVE for anyone considering freemotion quilting. I believe that it's ease of use makes it perfect for someone just starting out in freemotion quilting, as well as for a more experienced quilter. Bravo-Nan MooreRead full review
