I thought that The Mystery of Cabin Island was an above average book, comparing it to the other 76 Hardy Boys books that I've read. The reason I rated it higher than average was because it took place in the winter (the next book that takes place during the winter is The Yellow Feather Mystery, book #33). I thought about keeping it an average book, though, because it was only one person they were chasing after, not a gang of gangsters. Any fan of realistic fiction would like this book and any Hardy Boys fans would find this extremely good. The book takes place in Bayport and around Barmet Bay. If you read the original version of The Great Airport Mystery, Mr. Jefferson (owner of Cabin Island) makes another appearance.
Great book for boys learning to enjoy reading. I read these to my son before bed. Good, clean adventure.

I really enjoy reading, going for walks and love my kids. After reading The Mystery of Cabin Island. I would really like to learn Ice boating. I really enjoy reading about the different adventure the Hardy Boys. They are the best books I've ever read and would read them over and over again. My son has started reading them and after every book he reads he always asks if the could try some of the stuff he just read about. And of course I let him whether it be boating, hiking caves, shortwave radio, coin collecting, fingerprinting, etc. It keeps his mind active.
Hardy Boys books were my son's favorite reading matterial when he was 8 years old. Now that my grand-son turned 7 and loves to read, I wanted to start him on the same books. He loves the stories.
