Pretty much just like the regular Love Languages book. Read both from cover to cover. Many of the same examples used, just changed the wording to make it apply to singles. The test in the back is slightly different, but my main love language was still the same for both books. If you read the original then there's really no need to read this one. If you haven't read the original, then go ahead. Still a good book.
I wish that everybody that ever has to interact with another human being would read this book. (That should cover pretty much EVERYBODY, right?) The author talks about the concept of how we all give and receive love, communicate love, in five main categories, which he refers to as “love languages.” Most of us can “speak” a little bit of each of these languages, but just as most all of us have a primary language that we speak in our homes, we each have one of these five “love languages” that speaks to us more clearly than the others. Not only did this book help me gain insight into how to treat others to better suit their needs and make them happier, but it helped me to understand myself better. Like why some things are soooooo irritating to me when others wouldn’t even bat an eye, and why other things don’t bother me a bit. This book isn’t just for those in (or looking to be in) a dating relationship – it’s for anybody who lives their lives amoungst other people! Seriously, READ IT! It will open your eyes for certain and you won’t regret one second spent reading it!Read full review
I absolutely loved this book. It's a very interesting concept. It helped me understand how my mate expresses his love and now I try to acknowlege my appreciation when he shows his love in "his way." I also had loads of fun giving my friends their love language quiz. All in all, I feel that if couples take the time to figure out how their mates express their love and how you, yourself, needs to be shown love AND both parties utilize the information, your relationship can only grow. It's worth the shot! BUY THE BOOK!
This book continues the original "Five love Languages" book goal of helping every one to love and be loved in the most effective way for them. It is not a long book, and is written for singles of all kinds: never married, divorced, widowed, etc. Pros: To the point writing style, you learn what you need to without the fluff. Cons: Tries to cover a large audience demographic in a short time. Final thought: I would recommended this book to anyone who wants to better express there love for others and wants to feel more loved too.
Dr. Chapman distilled his wisdom in this book for singles as he has for married couples. I have read both and have culled different viewpoints from each as a previously married woman and now single - even though the 5 Love Languages are the same. I recommend this book to anyone wishing to improve their communication as they search and perhaps find others with whom they want to invest time to truly understand another and certainly oneself. It would be ideal if more people read The 5 Love Languages - the world would be a healthier, happier place to exist.
