Great book...Great principles. Dr. Leman puts things in a manner that's hard to argue with. You can't change their behavior until you change your own. I am the mother of a 14 year old son who was made in my mold. Up until a year ago, he was hugging me goodbye in the mornings, we graduated to 'near miss' hugs, then to fist bumps. He now cringes if we accidentally touch. I was devestated, frustrated, and left wondering my sweet loving little boy went. It was nice to hear others share their same familiar stories as well. I would definitely recommend this book to any parent who is caught between the feelings of frustration, anger, and helplessness. The book helped me to #1 - not take his actions personally...to realize that he doesn't understand himself right now, so I might as well quit trying to analyze his behavior. #2 - quit bombarding him with questions. Stop talking and LISTEN (which is hard for this Type A mom.) All in all, I had read "New Kid By Friday" & this book follows the same principles, is tremendously helpful as well as being based on my Christian beliefs. To all you parents reading this....hang in there :-)Read full review
I am so glad to have this as part of my resources! When I read it I laughed and cried because I felt as if Dr. Leman was describing my kids! Although NOTHING replaces the true word of God, I appreciate that the author's principles are Biblically based! A must have!
bought as a gift to my daughter; she learned a lot about how to deal with her two teens and now my neighbor has borrowed it to deal with her teenage boys; excellent advice for parents struggling with mouthy, disrespectful teenagers..
I purchase this product cause I needed help with my teenager. It was very useful and I love this product.
