Val Kilmer does a great job of playing John Holmes in this flik. He even kinda looks like him at times. The 1982 time period this is set in was a big money cocain time and kinda seedy in the west to say the least. This movie does a great job of showing that period and how drugs take over peoples lives. Lisa Cudrow plays Homles x-wife and Carrie Fisher has a small part in it as well. This is a hard movie to watch at times because of content. Holmes was no angel!! Very well done and I am happy to have it in my collection. This DVD also has a "B" disc with a life story about John Holmes, which was a surprise and pretty cool in its self. This 70' era film line also makes me want to add a couple of My pics. You should check out: Boogie Nights and Auto Focus (Bob Crane story) All three movies are well done...albeit, kinda creepy!Read full review
A warning regarding purchasing Wonderland DVD edition - these discs (especially disc 1) tend to suffer from 'disc rot' due to their age, even if purchased sealed and new. I've bought 2 of these now (factory sealed) and there's a noticeable bleed through of the print from the top of the disc to the bottom layer. I read somewhere that disc 1 is a dual layer, which may also have something to do with it. There's a chance i've just been very unlucky, but any info I've found online, points to these being known as one of the titles that comes up 'faulty' more than most.

I decided to buy this movie because I really enjoyed it when I rented it years ago so I knew it would be a good addition to my movie collection. It tells the story of the Wonderland Murders in 1981 in California from the point of view of one of the people that was supposed to have been involved. The actors do a good job and the way the story plays out really gives you the feel of what it must have been like. My only complaint is that they switch from one scene to the next a lot and if you're not paying attention you miss things. But all in all it's a good movie about a true story.
I reallly enjoyed this movie. It was different than I expected, however it was a good story. Val Kilmer was wonderful in this part. I think that it opened up things unknown about the "king of porn" other than what he was best known for. Dealing with drama, and unknown questions, that many will find at best... a great what if, and who done it. I was recommend this movie, just make certain that children are not around.. a story about J. Holmes, one without graphic sex, but a lot of drugs, and blood. Amazing..
This movie sheds light on an otherwise unknown series of events that took place in John Holme's life. The lasting impression of this porn star should have been overshadowed by his role in this crime. "Wonderland" lays out different angles of these horrible murders and leaves it up to you to decide what happened. It is a very well done movie that you will be pondering well after the final credits have rolled.
