While several reviewers seem to enjoy this movie, I thought it was a total dud. Briefly, Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is the idiot, drunken son of publishing magnate James Reid who dies suddenly of a bee sting. Britt probably couldn’t run a hot dog stand, much less a major newspaper. He teams up with Kato (Jay Chou) who was his father’s auto mechanic / coffee maker. The two decide to become crime fighters while appearing to be law-breakers. Britt / Green Hornet remains an idiot throughout the movie. Chou does a pretty good job as Kato, but he can’t save this one. To me, it just appears the writers couldn’t decide if this was a comedy or an action movie. If it supposed to be a comedy, there just isn’t much that is funny. The dialog is insipid throughout, the characters are totally shallow. Reid never grows into the Green Hornet role, he just remains a bumbling fool. Cameron Diaz appears as Reid’s secretary / researcher / writer, but she’s little more than some eye candy. There are plenty of explosions, car crashes, shootings. But who cares? The movie was filmed in 2D and converted to 3D. As with most converted films, the sense of depth is good, but there are no pop-outs, except the animated Hornet at the end of the movie. I hadn’t seen this film before purchasing the 3D Blu Ray. With so few films available in 3D I’m always looking for something to view. I could have skipped this one.Read full review

I saw this in 3D when it was first released in theaters, and it seemed to me to be one of the better 2D to 3D conversions (shot in 2D and converted to 3D in post-production). Even though there is a good deal of violence in this film, it is mostly a comedy, as you would expect with Seth Rogen playing the title character. There are also some established stars in the film, like Christoph Waltz, Tom Wilkinson, Cameron Diaz and Edward James Olmos. There is plenty of action in the film and some interesting special effects, including "Kato Vision". It is just a "popcorn movie" and I enjoyed it on that level.

I am very happy with the purchase. My wife and I watched it the very night of the day it was received. 3D makes all our movies more enjoyable, but this one was better than most. If a followup becomes available, I'll be sure to get one of those, also. Better story line, and more believable than many films today. Plenty of action and suspense, without unnecessary wholesale killing and violence.. Wes Metzger, Lutz, Florida

The story line is quite a bit different than what I expected. For someone who's familiar with the original Green Hornet episodes, don't expect to see the same here. But it's a average movie otherwise. Good effects, but to me this did not need a 3D version, just a bluray movie is good enough... the 3D did not pop out at you... just average. It had better pop out at you 3D in opening credits & end credits. So for someone who hasn't seen the original green hornet, this is an average film.
I originally bought the movie for the 3d effects. They were good and it is a funny movie. Loved Kato!
